Ok, so I'm exploring Rome by myself, and although it is always wonderful to be with my usual traveling partner, my bright and shining daughter, I am here for language immersion so....
I am alone but not lonely. Not at all. Being by myself opens up all kinds of connections with other people that would go unnoticed otherwise. It's a much different kind of awareness. I like it. :)

Ancient ruins in a city park that made a great place for a picnic. About that picnic...How is it that certain breads here can can be lighter than whipped creme?
um...almost
and that the provolone cheese and impossibly flavorful tomatoes inside that bread can be so amazing?
